A small partnership shipping senior platform work.
Nerds Run LLC is a Wisconsin-based boutique consultancy. One or two engagements per quarter — the rest of the time we're shipping R&D, writing, and owning the tools we build on.
The practice
Nerds Run builds platform engineering and AI systems for teams that can't afford to get it wrong. Regulated industries, high-stakes delivery, production-grade infrastructure — not pitches, not pilots. The kind of work that ships and stays shipped.
The firm is structured as a partnership. Senior engineering leadership across 10+ enterprise companies — airlines, healthcare, finance, identity, gaming — informs every engagement. We write the ADRs. We own the runbooks.
The partnership
Nerds Run is run by Alexander “Nerds” Banna and Stephanie. That's why the “we” on this site is literal — there are two people behind it, not a solo operator writing in the plural. Nerds leads the engineering: platform architecture, the agent pipelines, the lab. Stephanie is his partner in the business.
Nerds is a U.S. Army veteran who started in HVAC — an actual HVAC associate's degree, and a first software job at an energy-efficiency company. That background is why “reliable” here means the thing still works at 3am in February, not that it passed CI once.
How we work
Small by design. We take one or two new engagements per quarter because that's the ceiling on senior work we can deliver without diluting it. Engagements are scoped as architecture + delivery, not staff aug. We ship code, we ship documentation, and we teach your team how to own what we build.
Values
- Plumbing over magic. The hard parts are usually the boring parts.
- Write it down. An ADR is worth ten meetings.
- Own the claim. If we say a local model can do it, we've run it on our own hardware.
- Senior work, small shop. We don't grow past the ceiling on quality.

we'll tell you what it looks like to get there.
We take one or two new engagements per quarter. No published pricing — every engagement is scope- and duration-dependent, so pricing is a conversation. Bring the problem. We'll bring the questions.
